Achievement year: 2025  |  News coverage: January 22, 2026

Houston Award Winner • Global Nominee

AURA (AI Unified Research Atlas) earned a Houston 2025 award at the NASA International Space Apps Challenge and was selected as a Global Nominee, placing the project among the top 5% of teams worldwide.

The AI-powered platform makes NASA’s space life-science research easier to explore, turning more than 200,000 pages of research into accessible information for students, educators, and researchers.

Celebrating Myreen Ahsan & Ashley Jiang

Myreen Ahsan and Ashley Jiang were among the youth innovators on the award-winning AURA team, contributing to a collaboration that earned Houston recognition and a Global Nominee designation. The team also included student Abyaz Bhuiyan, alongside UTHealth Houston collaborators Xiaoqian Jiang, PhD, and Carlos Jaimes Garcia.

As a Global Nominee, AURA advanced from local recognition to international evaluation. This achievement celebrates both the Houston award and the team’s global nomination.
